(1) -아 주다/어 주다/해 주다
This form is used when a speaker requests something for himself, or when he does something for an inferior or equal person.

북극성은 북쪽을 알려 주는 별이다.
The Polar Star directs the northern direction.
제니는 유나에게 책을 빌려 주었다.
Jenny had lent Yuna her book.
유민이는 친구의 숙제를 도와 주었다.
Yumin helped his friend's homework.
나는 친구의 고장난 시계를 고쳐 주었다.
I fixed my friend's broken clock.
문 좀 열어 주세요.
Please open the door.


(2) -는 것 : (the act, fact, manner) of doing something
This form, preceded directly by an action verb, is used to indicate 'the act(manner, fact) of doing something‘.

(3) -에 따르면 : according to
This form, preceded directly by a noun, corresponds to the English 'in accordance with, in confirmity to, according to etc..

옛날 이야기에 따르면 견우와 직녀는 서로 사랑하는 사이였다고 한다
According to an old tale, Gyun-woo and Jik-nyuh loved each other.
일기예보에 따르면 내일 소나기가 내린다고 한다.
According to the weather forecast, there will be showers tomorrow.
선생님의 말씀에 따르면 다음 주에 소풍을 가게 된다고 한다.
According to the teacher, we are going on a picnic next week.
마이클의 말에 따르면 시험 문제가 어려웠다고 한다.
According to what Michael said, the test questions were difficult.
소식에 따르면 세라가 일주일 뒤에 한국에서 돌아온다고 한다.
According to others, Sarah will return from Korea in one week.


(4) -려고 하다/으려고 하다 : to intend to
This form is used to indicate a subject's intention or determination to act in a certain way.

고래가 안드로메다 공주를 잡아먹으려고 했어요.
The whale tried to eat princess Andromeda.
저는 내일 영화를 보려고 해요.
I intend to go to the movies tomorrow.
토니는 한 달 동안 서울에 있으려고 해요.
Tony plans to stay in Korea for one month.
유나와 유민이는 불고기를 먹으려고 해요.
Yuna and Yumin are about to eat Bulgogi.
세라는 시험 때문에 공부하려고 해요.
Sarah plans to study for the test.
